“...My recent work explores static representations of a dynamic subject; I concentrate on capturing a moving form on a flat surface. My prints combine the dimensional qualities of an open bite etching (with its almost sculptural effect) with dynamic colours and strong line drawing in order to describe motion as fragmented, still, flat shapes.

I am interested in the expressive nature of human motion and its dialogue with space. My work is concerned not only with physical structure but also the thought and emotion that move an organism into action…

Central to my printmaking practice lies the idea of impression, of a mark transferred from a matrix plate where the qualities of an original line or textures are multiplied by the qualities of receiving material - sometimes creating a twofold reality, sometimes emphasizing the transition from a negative to a positive space. I intertwine the dichotomy of the process itself into the narrative of my work, exploring the ideas of duality, juxtaposition and completeness as well as aspects of motion, its rhythmical structures and emotional inheritance.

I work freehand on zinc plates utilizing every millimeter of the plate’s depth to create rich textures on variety of papers, be it heavy and rough handmade ones or almost weightless and transparent Japanese kinds."
